Gluten is a protein found in wheat, rye and barley. Basically it is the "glue" that holds a product together.
When someone with Celiac ingests these foods, damage to the intestine occurs, and important nutrients cannot be absorbed. Celiac symptoms can be managed by diet change.
This diet change can feel overwhelming! It is often a daunting task to identify foods containing gluten and things that need to be avoided.
Naked Labels is simply that-a way to recognize potentially dangerous ingredients. A good rule of thumb is the shorter the ingredient list, the better. If a fifth grader can't pronounce the ingredients, it should probably be avoided!
